Color of the Metal
A pave setting (pronounced “pah-vay,” by the way) sets the stones very close together. This usually means they’re held in place by small prongs of metal. In a white gold, platinum, or palladium setting, these prongs will completely disappear amidst the sparkle of the diamonds, providing that seamless look. But a yellow or rose gold setting will use prongs that are slightly more visible.
